Silicon Valley’s
Waldorf Elementary School

Childhood isn’t meant to be standardized—or stressed.

In Silicon Valley, elementary school can feel accelerated; academics pushed earlier, screens introduced sooner, schedules filling faster.

But what if strong learning didn’t require rushing?

At Waldorf School of the Peninsula, we take a different approach;
one that’s been refined over more than a century, and is more relevant than ever.

No screens, no tedious worksheets, and no pressure to perform.

Instead, we build the foundations that matter most: attention, curiosity, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.

What Learning Looks Like Here

From Preschool through Grade 5, learning is active, creative, and deeply human.

Play-based, imagination-rich days in a home-like setting that build social confidence, language, and joy in discovery.

  • Storytelling, movement, and outdoor play

  • Practical activities like baking, gardening, and handwork

  • Gentle, predictable rhythms that help children feel secure

Early Childhood (Preschool - Kindergarten)

Grades 1-5

Academics come to vivid life through experience, not memorization.

  • Math, science, and literacy taught through stories, movement, and projects

  • Deep focus without screens or digital distraction

  • Strong, consistent teacher relationship throughout the grades years

Arts are core in all grades, not extra.

Yes, it’s rigorous. Just not in the way you might expect.

Our students build strong academic foundations—reading, writing, math, and scientific thinking—through methods that prioritize depth over speed.

They learn to:

  • focus deeply and think independently

  • solve problems creatively

  • express ideas clearly and confidently

By middle school, they are not just keeping up—they’re ready to lead.

In the early years, we intentionally limit technology.

Not because we’re anti-tech, but because we understand development.

Children first need to:

  • build attention spans

  • develop fine and gross motor skills

  • engage socially and verbally

  • experience the physical world

Technology comes later, when students are ready to use it with purpose, not dependence.

Less screen time.
More real learning.

A globally-minded, deeply-connected community.

WSP families come from across Silicon Valley and around the world.

  • 30+ languages spoken across our community

  • Families from tech, science, arts, and entrepreneurship

  • A shared desire to raise thoughtful, grounded, capable children

This is a place where connection comes first; between students, teachers, and families.

Let’s begin the conversation!

Choosing a school is about more than academics—it’s about the kind of childhood you want your child to have.

We’d love to hear what matters most to your family, and share what’s possible here.
