Waldorf School of the Peninsula was founded in 1984 with a clear aim: to offer children growing up in the innovation capital of the world a human-centered education that cultivates not just intellect, but heart and purpose.

At a time when technology was beginning to reshape every aspect of life in Silicon Valley, our founders recognized the need for an education that honors childhood, nurtures imagination, and builds the deeper capacities young people need to thrive in an ever-changing world. Inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner, Waldorf education meets children where they are developmentally—supporting growth in thinking, feeling, and doing.

Today, WSP serves approximately 250 students across two campuses: Early Childhood through Grade 5 in Los Altos, and Grades 6 through 12 in Mountain View. We are proud to be one of more than 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide, and one of 160 in North America. Our programs are fully accredited by AWSNA (the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America) and WASC (the Western Association of Schools and Colleges).

Our students go on to top colleges and universities, with over 95% of graduates attending four-year institutions. More importantly, they go on equipped with the curiosity, resilience, and ethical grounding to lead, create, and contribute in meaningful ways. In a region driven by innovation, we remain committed to educating children for a future that calls for both brilliance and humanity.
