Whole Foods Scrip Program
Overview:
Many people in the WSP Community shop at Whole Foods. When Whole Foods was part of the eScrip program, WSP usually received around $7500 each year from eScrip from the community’s Whole Foods purchases alone. When Whole Foods pulled out of eScrip 2 years ago, we lost the $7500 donation.
Earlier this year Whole Foods started their own scrip program. Whole Foods will only sell scrip directly to schools and give them a 4% rebate. So if we purchase $10,000 in scrip, Whole Foods will only charge us $9600. We then sell it back to you at the face value of $10,000, netting us $400.
We currently purchase our scrip at the Cupertino store. So, technically they are the store that “donates” the 4%. But, you may use the scrip at any store, anywhere, on any item. There is no expiration date on the scrip.
Scrip is like cash. Do not lose it! And the biggest problem most people have is remembering to take the cards to the store with them!
How the program works at WSP:
- You will receive an email asking you to place your Whole Food scrip orders by a certain date.
- You send an email to wholefoodsscrip@waldorfpeninsula.org with your name, email address, amount of scrip requested and where you would like to pick up your scrip: lower school or high school.
- Your order must be in $100 increments. The gift cards are worth $100 each.
- You will get an email confirming the receipt of the order.
- Your scrip will be picked up and sorted into envelopes with your name and the amount purchased printed on the outside.
- You will receive an email informing you that your scrip is ready for pick up at the office (both lower school and high school).
- You come to the office with a check made out to WSP in the exact amount of your order and sign that you received the scrip. You will not be able to pick up an order without a check. You must pay when you pick up the scrip.
- If we have extra scrip after all orders are fulfilled, an email will be sent out stating that you may come into the lower school office and purchase some of the extra. This scrip will be offered on a first come, first served basis. You must pick it up at the lower school. We will not take orders for the extra. You will need to have a check for the amount purchased in order to receive the scrip.
FAQ:
Q: If I don’t use the scrip at the Cupertino store will WSP still get the rebate?
A: Yes. Because we purchase the scrip from the Cupertino store, they are the one giving WSP the rebate. You can use the scrip at ANY Whole Foods store.
Q: To whom do we make out the checks?
A: Make the checks out to WSP. We have already purchased the scrip and are technically reselling it to you.
Q: Where do I bring the check?
A: You bring the check to either the lower school or high school office. You will give the check to the Kristin or Elise at the lower school or Jennifer at the high school. You will then sign stating you received the scrip.
Q: When do I bring the check?
A: You bring the check to either the lower school or high school office after you receive an email from wholefoodsscrip@waldorfpeninsula.org stating that the gift cards have arrived. If you do not pick up your scrip within 2 weeks of receiving that email, the scrip may be added to the "extra" and be sold.
Q: I carpool and only come to the school twice a week. Can I bring a check in before the scrip arrives and have my carpool partner pick up the scrip?
A: We prefer that you send the check with your carpool partner instead of pre-paying. Pre-paying creates a larger accounting problem for us.
Q: Can my child pick up the scrip?
A: Yes, but they must have a check in the amount ordered to pick it up.
Q: Can I buy just $50 worth of scrip?
A: No. You must order in $100 increments. There is no maximum, but $100 is the minimum.
Q: Once I order, do I have to order each time or do I have a standing order?
A: We do not have standing orders right now. If you want to purchase each time we offer scrip you must send in an order. It does not have to be the same amount as you spent the previous time. We may offer standing orders in the future, but not right now.
Q: I received an email saying there was some extra scrip to purchase, can I send you an order by email and then pick it up?
A: NO. The extra scrip will be available on a first come, first served basis only. No orders taken. You must have a check for the amount purchasing.
Q: I have a child at the high school and want to purchase some of the extra scrip. Can I get it at the high school?
A: Unfortunately, No. We do not have the capacity to have the extra scrip distributed between the schools. All extra scrip must be purchased at the lower school during lower school office hours.
Q: Can I use more than one gift card per purchase at the store?
A: Yes. Think of the scrip like cash. You can use as many cards as it takes to pay the bill.
Q: What if my purchase is larger than what I have left on my card?
A: Then you use the amount left on the card and pay the rest by cash, check or credit card.
